Services:
One session includes four programs, which occur every Saturday afternoon. First, a trained volunteer will guide you and your group on a hike through the Nicolet Forest. This will be followed by a canoe ride down a portion of the river. These outdoor activities will last about two hours total. During the first program, the activities will be quite easy, but as the weeks go on, we hope to increase the difficulty so that you can feel satisfied with your progress. Lastly, we will make our way back to our building where there will be an hour long health program, in which our clients will share their current eating and exercise habits and then learn healthier alternatives to what they are doing. We invite you to bring along a family member for entertainment or support, but our guides will have no trouble keeping you interested, so don't worry about coming alone! Market: Our primary market is those living in rural areas near the Nicolet Forest whose eating and exercise habits are lacking. For this program, you must have the desire to explore the outdoors and also be open to trying new foods and activities in order to learn about living a healthier lifestyle. Most of our clients tend to be older, but we invite anyone to join! In fact, we open our trails to anyone, so if you want to bring your family out for an afternoon, we'd be happy to provide you with a trail map or a guide for a small fee. Because this is a harder market to reach, we will partner up with the Shawano County Rural Health Initiative, which sees many overweight/unhealthy people from rural areas. This will be in addition to emails, posters, and flyers though. |
